Story 2: A new Aves – Chapter 1

</i>In a dark corridor......

“Ben!”, Maya cried
Emilio didn't move or flinch
“Emilio”, Maya cried louder
Still no reaction
“Please talk to me....(sob)”, Maya said heartbroken
“Goodbye Maya”, Emilio suddenly said and he began to walk away
“No Ben!! Please!! I....(sob)....I.....-”</i>

“NO!!!”, suddenly cried.

It was all just a dream. A very vivid dream. Maya had just woken. She was sweating heavily, her heart was beating at top speed, her breathing was short and gasping. She looked at her pillow. It was wet. She checked her face. Tears. She had been crying the whole time. It was early morning. Saturday. Luckily no one heard her scream. She rolled around in her bed a bit, thinking of the realistic nightmare she just had. She decided to forget about it, so she pushed the memory deep in her mind.

She didn't go back to sleep. She was scared that she would have the same dream again and that the dream would actually come true. Emilio was her closest friend, and a dream about him leaving was just too much for her heart to take. She went around doing her daily routine till the afternoon before she and Emilio met up at the park.

“Hi Maya!!”, Emilio said gleefully

“Hi Emilio...”, Maya's replied, which was a lot more tired sounding and a bit
depressing.

Emilio's face changed from happy to concerned in an instant

“What's wrong?”, Emilio asked.

“Ohh... I-I-It's nothing”, Maya replied

“Then cheer up!”, Emilio said energetically, hoping some of his energy would rub off on Maya.

“Okay!!”, Maya said energetically for the first time today, “So what do you wanna do today?”, Maya continued

“Well.....”, Emilio began, “Today's Saturday and no one is robbing, destroying, hitting, anything or anyone (yet).”, Emilio said while rubbing his chin.

“Wanna just ........wander around the park?”, Maya suggested shyly

Then Emilio took a look around the park. Couples. Everywhere. This way and that. Picnics, songs, flowers and whatnot. Emilio got the hint. He suddenly blushed and said,

“Sure...uhh...why not?”
Emilio took Maya's hand without looking at her face, but you could tell he was blushing. Maya was blushing too and she was very happy. After a while of standing and holding hands, Maya asked,

“What are we doing?”

Emilio finally looked at her, his face a bit red, and said,

“Right....”

Emilio started walking forward and Maya followed, their hands still interlaced. No words were exchanged. Each of them just enjoyed the feeling of each others hands. They looked around the truly peaceful park, the only place in Miracle City that wasn't a “Spicy Cesspool of Crime and Villainy”. The silence between them was broken by Emilio saying,

“Nice day.....isn't it?”

“Yah....”, replied Maya

During this “conversation” they didn't look at each other. They just looked forward and continued to blush.

Maya's dream was nagging her. She couldn't let it go. The more she thought about it, the more she wanted to cry. She couldn't keep it in anymore, she decided to tell Emilio.

“Ben...”, Maya said with a bit of depression in her voice

Emilio immediately turned his head towards Maya,

“Are you leaving Miracle City anytime soon?”, Maya Continued as she started crying

“What?”, Emilio exclaimed, “Why would you say that?”, Emilio asked very confused

“I had a nightmare last night(sob),”, Maya began, “and you were in it.  I called out for you but you didn't move or notice. I screamed out for you louder and you said

“Goodbye Maya(sob)...I'm...I'm....(sob)” ”. She couldn't say it, it hurt her too much simply by thinking about it.

“Shhh....”, Emilio said while pulling her into hug, “It's alright”, he said while stroking her black hair, “Remember, you'll always have me”. Emilio wiped away a tear off her face and looked deep into her wet eyes. She looked into his and the world seemed to melt away.

Maya stopped crying and she felt Emilio's hand around her body. Emilio smelled her sweet perfume. The tension was dense, the air was warm, the space between them slowly got smaller....and smaller....and smaller until...........................
